Dewdrop of Honey creates lightweight, expressive jewelry from vegetable-tanned leather. Each piece is cut, embossed, and hand-painted so the colors glow and the textures feel alive. The result is jewelry that’s comfortable to wear all day and strong enough to become a favorite for years.
Why Vegetable-Tanned Leather?
Vegetable tanning uses natural, plant-based tannins to turn raw hide into durable leather. For jewelry, that means:
- Cleaner crafting: a traditional process with fewer harsh chemicals than modern chrome tanning.
- Brilliant color: veg-tan leather absorbs pigments beautifully for vivid, nuanced finishes.
- Crisp embossing: the leather can be moistened and stamped, perfect for detailed textures and patterns.
From Raw Hide to Wearable Art
Our partner artisan cuts graceful shapes from high-quality hides, then embosses the surface to raise petals, scales, or geometric motifs. After drying, the pieces are hand-painted in layered tones and sealed for protection.
Color, Texture, Comfort
Leather is naturally warm and soft. It’s also featherlight, so even statement earrings feel comfortable for long wear. The final clear coat helps guard against everyday moisture and sunlight while letting the color and grain shine.
Care & Longevity
- Store away from prolonged heat or soaking; avoid strong solvents.
- Wipe with a soft, dry cloth; for the metal hooks, use a gentle jewelry cloth.
- If needed, a very light touch of neutral leather balm can refresh the surface, test on a hidden spot first.
