Here we have vegetable tanned leather. That means to process than raw cowhide, only natural, plant-based tannins are used. That has several benefits:
- This traditional method of tanning releases far less toxins into the environment than faster, modern methods.
- The leather accepts coloring far better.
- It is much easier to emboss. Indeed, the embossing method used to create this jewellery is only possible using vegtan leather.
Our partner Dewdrop of Honey is cutting out a variety of nice forms from high quality leather. Then she brings forth the desired form by embossing the little shapes before painting them in nice and vibrant colors.
Finally the jewellery is sealed with a coat of clear lacquer to protect it from moisture and sunlight.
